Sample Horses (9 min. 2002) Shot, directed, and edited by Lester Alfonso; a private commission needing a video file size small enough to be emailed in 2002.
Day 23 of 360 videos from my archive. This one was a private commission for a friend of a friend who wanted to sell their horses. They needed a video with a file size small enough to be emailed. This was back in 2002. What you see here is the original file. I remember the client also ordered a box of VHS copies; she planned to send them out in the mail.
Although simply created to show “product shots,” I managed to capture more than just “objects.” The absence of music adds to the verisimilitude of the moment; it’s almost as if the peaceful lifestyle is for sale.
Later in the video, a springtime ritual begins with an explosive meeting.
