Golden River (15 sec.) Video photography by Lester Alfonso. A stock clip that was previously only available on iStock now available for free download.
Report from the Archive — Day 49. As I go through my videos to publish them, I’m finding some mysteries. I can’t remember where or when this video was taken. I must have been on location somewhere and I caught a glimpse of this play of light on the water and hit RECORD. I must have fidgeted with a tripod and adjusted my lens to frame this clip — a golden-lit river obscured by tree branches. Where was I? This could have been a snippet from a dream. I was a hunter — that’s what I remember. Maybe it’s only prey to my shot. This moment of light in motion was captured with the intention to sell it on the market.
My seller account on iStock has long been forgotten yet this video artifact recently tumbled out of a hard drive tucked inside an untitled folder, unnamed. What I do know is that this came from a set of fifteen-second stock footage clips that I had previously made available for purchase like Water Star. It was just one of the ways I was trying to make money out of my art. (It didn’t work.)
My guess is that this is the Otonabee River near Peterborough, Ontario. I dub it Golden River here. To download this video for royalty-free use in any of your projects, click here. I’m dedicating this to the Public Domain today.
More soon! Enjoy! — LA
