When artist Jérémie Giles came through town in 2005 to exhibit over seventy of his paintings over the course of a weekend, I was hired to shoot footage by a film company in British Columbia to use in a documentary they were putting together about the artist.

I was working at PowerHouse Digital Video Arts at the time, I was nurtured by owners Steve Rose and Tim Rowat. With their support, it was a productive, creative, and prolific time for me. I am so grateful for their guidance. We decided to make our own take on Mr. Giles with the footage. It was a demonstration of what we could do.

This short documentary is exclusively available on this website for the very first time — another digital world premiere. It’s a time capsule that features appearances by former Peterborough mayor Sylvia Sutherland, arts advocate, the late Erica Cherney, painter Peer Christensen, and more.

Much more coming from the archive. Stay tuned! —LA
