MeTV Malaysia — Sports (2 min. 2001) Shot, directed, and edited by Lester Alfonso. An interstitial Nickelodeon Asia mixing super8 film photography and video interviews.
Day 21 of 360 videos from my archive. Today’s video is from a series of short interstitials I made for Nickelodeon Asia while I was in Kualalumpur. I had exhausted my other good ideas at this point.
I had to come up with ten different topics for these short “documentaries.” We traveled for hours to little towns and schools. I had a sound person and an assistant driver and a producer with me on a weeklong trip to shoot these segments but I was a one-man-band: I shot video, super8 film, and interviewed the kids on my own. My editing skills got sharpened by the corporate digital sweatshop. I had to edit one of these a day to keep on schedule when I got back to Toronto.
More soon. — LA
